Reliability
What are the details of this piece of news? Which of these details can be verified in other sources? Could these details be true? Why or why not?
Some of the details included was the total amount of Dengvaxia, the number of people in which the vaccine was administered and the WHO’s report on the drug. Some of the details may be true but some can possibly be false because the writer itself lacks the credibility.
Accuracy
Which of these facts are measurable? How were they derived? Was the article written in an objective manner? Is the article written with care?
The total cost it took to buy Dengvaxia and the number of people in which these vaccines were first administered was the facts that were measurable but even having facts like these doesn’t make the article objective. It was with regards to what the writer thinks of the Aquino administration. The writer was not careful enough to think of his or her words before publishing them and just wrote whatever he felt about the government at that time buying Dengvaxia.
Value
Consider the audience of the article? Who would find this article valuable?
I think a person who thinks and a media and information literate individual wouldn’t value this article because it is misleading and giving out false accusations without concrete evidences. Even though it presented facts, it is improper to make such a conclusion with just those.
Authority
Who wrote the article? How is the author related to the article? What was his source? Are the sources properly cited? What is the reputation of the author? Is he known for some biases?
The article was published by ThinkingPinoy, a page in Facebook which frankly, anyone can make. It lacks the credibility to make such allegations. He or she had sources cited but the article was clearly subjective because it contained his or her views about the topic.
Timeliness
When was the article written? Is it possible that some of the information in the article has changed in time? If yes, would the change have any effect on the conclusion of the article?
It was written last December 1. Time is a huge factor in the article because it was the main point of post. It would make a change if this was written some other time.
